Lois,
Allow me to respond.
Yes, it is your choice whether to participate or not. Allow me to bring a few things to your attention:
- To refer to this as a sham process is very disconcerting and extremely disingenuous on your part. You had no problem moving forward initially. You and every candidate were thoroughly informed how the process would take place. This (in my opinion), revels, your only issue is the fact that you were scored with a value which you feel is beneath yourself.
- Not everybody gets a Participation Trophy. The fact that you have corporate experience, as do I, dose not in itself mean we are qualified to be elected to a government position. In fact, how many times have we seen individuals get promoted despite their incompetence in both the corporate world as well as government. You may very well be qualified for the position of city council, yet your attitude is coming across loud and clear as though you are entitled to be there.
- Regarding Chad and Tony doing a speaking engagement at The Lions of Liberty, they both (independent of each other), requested an opportunity to do so. Why did you not request an opportunity? Their request to speak, came long before the submission of questions to each candidate. So, there was already a schedule long before the questionnaires went out. Just an FYI: to the best of my knowledge Chad is schedule, Tony is not.
- As to any cloak of secrecy, please, we have been very transparent> Each candidate was given the exact same set of questions, each candidate was instructed of how this process would roll out, each candidate was informed we would be doing our own internal scoring and each candidate was told they may be invited to a one-on one video interview and every candidate was informed that everything will be made public. By the way, it was made public who was on the committee. I am surprised your surrogates, Conrardy and Cook have chosen not to mentioned it too you.
- As to the difference in scoring, we were very clear in our Release. One of the five (5) criterion we looked for was how well thought out the candidates’ responses were. Too this extent you had some very high scores on some of your responses yet as an example, overall, Dr. Tony Hamer provided much more in-depth details than did yourself or any other candidate. You would know that if you had any interest in reading the responses of your opponents. Yet once again (in my opinion) it seems the entitlement attitude is greater the desire to be a true leader and learn from others.
Having said all this, we will leave open, until today at 5:00 pm the opportunity to schedule your interview and give you the opportunity to prove to the people of the City of Prescott that you are a leader you profess to be. The choice is yours.

Dave,
I will no longer spend any more time participating in your Lion’s of Liberty sham of a vetting process. I operated in good faith, spending 8 hours answering all your questions and helping your organization understand the legal boundaries of areas in your survey, as outlined in the Prescott City Charter and AZ Revised State Statutes (ARS). With 34 years as a successful Senior Executive at a major US corporation, your vetting team’s scoring of my responses as an “entry level employee” now only reveals the lack of qualifications of your biased sub team. And to recently learn that only 1.5 days after our June 15th response due date, on June 17th morning your group was already announcing that only Mr. Hamer and Mr. DeVries were being brought to speak in your monthly forums. This reveals to most reasonable voters that your group had a preordained decision, likely before you even read our responses. That is probably is why your group, 1) won’t name your 7 members of the vetting committee nor their professional qualifications, nor 2) will outline your 7 scores for each candidates’ responses. Your cloak of secrecy in your scoring results, with such disparate total scores, is incredibly revealing to the reasonable citizens of Prescott.
At this point and if you haven’t already, please just:
1) Correct the spelling of my last name throughout your website.
2) Correct the format of the mobile device access to the surveys so ALL of the candidate responses can actually be read by citizens from their mobile devices. With full information, people will then make their own informed decisions.
